Object, Unit & Aggregation
Sculpture
A paper sculpture made without any adhesive. An innovative structure unit design, which could be applied to many scenarios in the real world, such as building, bridge, and so on.
Single object & Making process
I made small cuts both in the middle and at the end of each wing to make the object joinable in multiple directions. Each object has 9 small cuts, which produces 12 possible directions to join.
Two types of joining
1. Vertical (in the middle)
This type of joining has 6 directions.

2. Horizontal (at each wing’s end)
This type of joining has 6 directions.

Aggregation
My final aggregation is based on connecting smaller aggregations made up of 4 single objects. Flipping the wings’ flanks outward and inward creates different sense of space.

The small aggregations’ inner connection uses the first type of joining, while the connection between small aggregations uses the second type.
